3 Keys to unlock your right brain
It's all in there - you just need to let it out
In the last video, we talked about how our education systems and employers encourage us to use our left brains far more than our right, causing us to lose touch with a lot of our adventurous and creative tendencies.
We also looked at how that can leave us feeling helpless when crisis comes and we need to find innovative solutions to problems and new ways of working.
The GOOD NEWS is that all your right brain abilities are still there. You haven't lost them completely. They are just lying dormant. They are probably a bit rusty but we can get them back in working order using some very simple techniques that everyone can do.
In this short video, I am going to introduce you to 3 simple keys that will help you start to unlock your right brain and unleash its creative, poetic, anarchic and non-linear tendencies for your benefit.
So here are the three keys:
The belief that we CAN do something is a huge factor in our decision to try it and, of course, it is only when we try something that we find out that we actually CAN do it - and, often, do it really well.
This may sound ridiculously simple and obvious - because it is - but it is amazing how good we are at talking oursleves down and telling ourselves that we can't do things.
This taps into a very powerful principle in life
THE ONE VOICE WE ALWAYS TRUST AND BELIEVE
IS THE ONE INSIDE OUR OWN HEAD
So, why not use that internal voice to build up our belief that we can be creative or innovative and that we can find new ways to do things? This can build our confidence to try somethng different - and that is when the fun begins.
Have you ever woken up in the night with a crazy idea going through your rmind? Have you had a lightbulb moment in the bathroom or remembered the name of that movie - that had been bugging you for days - in the middle of a sale presentation?
Well, if you have, That's your right brain in action. You never know what it is going to come up with or when but, if you're really smart, you will learn to listen to it carefully.
You know, some ideas only come once in a lifetime so capture every good idea your right brain comes up with because they may never come again. Write them down, speak them into a voice recorder, make a doodle of them. Just don't ignore them.
THE MORE YOU LISTEN TO YOUR RIGHT BRAIN,
THE MORE IT WILL SPEAK TO YOU
Capturing all these ideas your right brain is offering you is really important but there comes a time when you need to actually do something with them.
This can be very scary at first but it is surprising how quickly you learn to trust your right brain once you have successfully put some of its suggestions into practice.
In the next video, we are going to run a couple of exersizes that will help you get started with this.
